When the Beloved Prophet ﷺ was 12 years of age , he embarked on his first business trip to Syria with his uncle, Abu talib . When the caravan reached the city of Basra , he encountered a monk named Baheera , whose real name was "Barjees" . Recognizing the signs of prophethood in the Beloved Prophet ﷺ, he held his hand and proclaimed: “He is the chief of all the worlds; he is the Messenger of the Lord of the worlds; Allah Almighty will send him as Rahma tul lil aalameen (mercy for all the worlds).”
He then hosted a meal for the Beloved Prophet ﷺ and the caravan. During the meal, he observed further signs of prophethood. Concerned for the Beloved Prophet's ﷺ safety, Baheera advised Abu Talib , “Do not take him to Syria. If the people of Syria recognize him by the signs of prophethood, they may attempt to harm him.” Thus, they returned from Basra. The monk also provided Beloved Prophet ﷺ with provisions for their journey.
