When the Final Prophet of Allah ﷺ was 35 years old , a heavy rainstorm caused a flood that damaged the Ka’bah . A portion of the Ka’bah's structure collapsed due to the severe rainfall. The Quraysh decided to demolish the existing structure and build a stronger building of the Ka’bah with a higher door and a roof. The Quraysh collectively undertook this construction project, and the Beloved Prophet ﷺ also participated by carrying stones. Different tribes divided the construction work among themselves.
When the time came to place the Hajar al-Aswad (Black Stone) during the rebuilding of the Ka’bah, a serious dispute arose among the tribes. Each tribe desired the honor of placing the Hajar al-Aswad, and they were prepared to use force if any tribe obstructed them. For four days, they argued over who would have this privilege. To resolve this conflict, an elderly man suggested that they let the first person to enter the Ka’bah the next morning make the decision. All the tribes agreed to this. Glory be to Allah! The first person to enter the Ka’bah was the Beloved Prophet ﷺ himself. Overjoyed, the tribes declared that they would accept whatever decision he made. With great wisdom, the Beloved Prophet ﷺ resolved the discord. He ﷺ asked each tribe to nominate a representative. He ﷺ then placed the Hajar al-Aswad on his blessed shawl and asked the representatives to hold the corners of the shawl and lift it together. Once they reached the intended spot, the Beloved Prophet ﷺ took the sacred stone and placed it in its rightful position. Through his wisdom, he extinguished the flames of discord and brought joy to all.
The blessed birth of Sayyida Fatima al-Zahra رضي الله عنها took place 5 years before the declaration of prophethood.
