Initially, Sayyiduna Umar Farooq رضی اللہ عنہ was a fierce enemy of Islam.
One day, filled with anger, he was on his way to kill the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. On the way, he learned that his sister had also embraced Islam. He went to her house and found her reciting the Quran. He assaulted her and her husband. However, seeing their unwavering faith despite the physical assault, he wondered about the power of Islam.
He asked his sister for the Quran, but she refused to give it to him until he purified himself. He performed ablution, took the Quran, and began to read. When he reached the verse, اِنَّنِیْۤ اَنَا اللّٰهُ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنَا فَاعْبُدْنِیْۙ- 'Indeed, only I am Allah; there is no one worthy of worship except Me; hence, worship Me, (Ta Ha: 14) , the Quran's message touched his heart. He presented himself in the blessed court of Beloved Prophet ﷺ and accepted Islam. The Muslims celebrated his conversion with great joy and raised slogans of Allah o Akbar with such strength that their echoes reached Haram e Ka’abah. In this way Sayyiduna Umar al Farooq رضی اللہ عنہ entered the fold of Islam.
In the sixth year of prophethood, Sayyiduna Hamza رضی اللہ عنہ embraced Islam.
Returning home from a hunt, he learned that Abu Jahl had mistreated his nephew, Muhammad ﷺ. Enraged, he went to the Ka’bah and struck Abu Jahl on the head with his bow so hard that his head bled. He then declared, “My religion is the same as my nephew's. I bear witness that he is the Messenger of Allah. If you are truthful, then stop me from becoming a Muslim.”
Upon returning home, Satan tempted him by reminding him of his status among the Quraysh leaders. He spent a sleepless night. The next morning, he sought guidance from the Beloved Prophet ﷺ, who explained the truth and beauty of Islam. Soon, Sayyiduna Hamza's رضی اللہ عنہ heart was filled with light and he declared, “I bear witness that you are the Messenger of Allah.”
