مشکاۃ المصابیح، (حدیث 6008)Sayyidatuna Abu Burdah رضي الله عنها narrated from her father that the Holy Prophet ﷺ raised his head towards the sky, and he ﷺ would do this many times. He said: “The stars are a safety for the sky. When the stars disappear, what has been promised to the sky will happen. I am a safety for my companions, so when I depart, what has been promised to them will happen. And my companions are a safety for my ummah, so when my companions depart, what has been promised to my ummah will happen.”
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Mughaffal رضي الله عنه that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Fear Allah! Fear Allah concerning my Companions. Fear Allah! Fear Allah concerning my Companions. Do not make them targets after me. For whoever loves them, loves them because of my love for them. And whoever hates them, hates them because of my hatred for them. And whoever harms them, harms me. And whoever harms me, has harmed Allah. And whoever harms Allah, is close to being seized by Him.' Meaning: hatred towards my Companions is hatred towards me, and conversely, love for the Companions is love for me.
