مشکاۃ المصابیح (حدیث 4928)Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Masood رضي الله عنه narrated that he asked the Noble Prophet ﷺ: “O Messenger of Allah, which deed is most beloved to Allah?” He ﷺ replied: “Praying on time.” I asked: “And after that?” He ﷺ said: “Showing kindness to one’s parents.” I asked: “And after that?” He ﷺ said: “Striving (jihad) in the way of Allah.”
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنه reported that the Beloved Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever wakes up in a state of obedience to Allah regarding his parents, two gates of Paradise will be opened for him in the morning. And if one of the parents is alive, then one gate will be opened. And whoever wakes up in a state of disobedience to Allah regarding his parents, two gates of Hellfire will be opened for him in the morning. And if one of the parents is alive, then one gate will be opened. A person said, 'Even if the parents are unjust to him?' The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said, 'Even if they are unjust, even if they are unjust, even if they are unjust.'" Sayyiduna Abu Umamah رضي الله عنه narrated: "A person asked, 'O Messenger of Allah! What is the right of parents over their children?' He ﷺ replied, 'They are both your Paradise and your Hellfire. That is, those who please them will enter Paradise, and those who displease them will deserve Hellfire.'
