Social Conduct of the Holy Prophet ﷺ

Hadith

Translation

Sayyiduna Jarir bin Abdullah رضي الله عنه said: Since I became a Muslim, the Holy Prophet ﷺ never prevented me from attending him. And whenever the Beloved Prophet ﷺ saw me, he would look at me with a smile.

Narration

Sayyiduna Jarir رضي الله عنه narrates that ever since I embraced Islam, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ never veiled himself from me (i.e., treated me openly and without reserve) and would smile when he saw me. I complained to him ﷺ that I could not sit firmly on a horse. So, he ﷺ patted my chest with his blessed hand and said, 'O Allah, make him firm (on horseback) and make him a guide and rightly guided.'

Key Points

  • Meeting someone with a smile is a blessed Sunnah of our Beloved Prophet ﷺ; it increases love and affection among people.
