مشکاۃ المصابیح، کتاب الدعوات (حدیث2377)Narrated by Sayyiduna 'Amir al Ram, he said: We were with the Beloved Prophet ﷺ when suddenly a man came, wearing a blanket and carrying something wrapped in it. He said: "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I passed by a tree with a bird's nest. I heard the chicks chirping, so I took them and put them in my blanket. Their mother came and circled above my head. I opened the blanket in front of her, and she fell upon them. I wrapped them all up in my blanket." The Beloved Prophet ﷺ said, "Put them down." The man put them down, and their mother remained attached to them. The Beloved Prophet ﷺ said, "Do you marvel at the mother's love for her chicks? By the One who sent me with the truth, Allah Almighty is more merciful to His servants than a mother is to her chicks. Return them to where you took them from, and let their mother be with them." So the man returned them and left the mother with her chicks.
Sayyiduna Abd-ur-Rahman's father, Abdullah, narrates that we were on a journey with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He went to relieve himself. We saw a bird resembling a sparrow with two chicks. We captured both chicks. The bird came and began fluttering its wings (in distress). Meanwhile, the Beloved Prophet ﷺ arrived and said: 'Who has distressed it by capturing its young ones? Return its young ones to it.' Then he ﷺ saw an ant nest that we had burned. He ﷺ asked: 'Who has burned this?' We replied: 'We did.' Upon this, he ﷺ said: 'It is not permissible for anyone to inflict the punishment of fire except God.' One day, Sayyiduna Uthman bin Habban caught a flea and threw it into the fire. Upon this, Sayyiduna Umm Darda رضي الله عنها said: 'I heard Abu Darda رضي الله عنه say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ' No one should inflict the punishment of fire except the Owner of Fire (God).'
