ریاض الصالحین (حدیث 121)Sayyiduna Abu Dharr رضي الله عنه reports that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: Do not regard any act of goodness as insignificant, even if it is merely meeting your brother with a cheerful face.
Imam Mulla Ali Qari Hanfi رحمۃ اللہ علیہ states: "Meeting Muslims with joy and pleasure is also a good deed, as it brings happiness to the heart of the other person. And there is no doubt that bringing happiness to the heart of a Muslim is a good deed. Smiling while speaking is a Sunnah. Yes, indeed, it is a Sunnah. As it is narrated that Sayyidatuna Umm Durda رضي الله عنها, speaking about Sayyiduna Abu Durda رضي الله عنه, said that he used to always talk with a smile. When I asked him about this, he replied, 'I saw the epitome of good character, Allah's Messenger ﷺ smiling during his conversations.'
