شمائل ترمزی ،باب ماء جاءفی صفۃ خبز رسول اللہﷺIt is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Muhammad Fadalah bin Ubaid Ansari رضي الله عنه that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: “Glad tidings to the one who is guided to Islam, whose livelihood is sufficient for his needs, and who remains content.”
Simplicity was the most important attribute of the Beloved Prophet ﷺ. Sayyiduna Umar رضي الله عنه once came to the Beloved Prophet ﷺ and saw that he ﷺ was sitting on a mat. He said, 'O Prophet ﷺ, Caesar and Khosrow live a life of luxury, while such is the state of your life?' He ﷺ replied, 'For them is this world, and for us are comforts in the Hereafter.' The Beloved Prophet's ﷺ house was extremely small and simple. His food was simple; he never criticized food, and if he did not desire it, he would leave it. He used a leather pillow stuffed with date palm fibers. Such was his outward hardship that for two consecutive months, the fire would not be lit in the hearth, and he would subsist on dates and water. The wives of the Beloved Prophet رضی اللہ تعالی عنهن never ate their fill of barley bread for two consecutive days.
