مشکاۃ المصابیح (حدیث 5820)It is narrated from Sayyidatuna Aisha رضي الله عنها that she said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was neither indecent in speech by habit nor deliberately so, and he was not one to raise his voice in the marketplaces. He did not repay evil with evil, but rather forgave and overlooked.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umayya Makhzoomi that a thief was brought before the Holy Prophet ﷺ who had explicitly confessed to theft, but no stolen goods were found in his possession. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, 'I do not think that you have committed theft.' He said, 'Yes (I have).' The Holy Prophet ﷺ said this to him two or three times, and each time he confessed. So, he ordered that his hand be cut off. When he was brought back, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, 'Seek forgiveness from Allah and repent.' He said, 'I seek forgiveness from Allah and repent to Him.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said three times, 'O Allah, accept his repentance.'
