سنن ابو داؤد، باب: وقار اور سنجیدگی (حدیث1373)Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik رضي الله عنه reports that the Beloved Prophet ﷺ said: Whoever desires safety must hold firmly to silence.
It is narrated from Abu Saeed Khudri رضي الله عنه that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would sit in a gathering, he would perform 'Ihtiba' with both his hands. (Ihtiba refers to sitting with the knees raised and encircling them with the hands or a cloth.) Most of his sittings were in this posture. It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah رضي الله عنه that the Beloved Prophet ﷺ would sit cross-legged and sometimes he would sit without Ihtiba. He was of a quiet nature and would not speak unnecessarily. He would avoid the one who did not speak good. His laughter was only a smile. His gatherings were gatherings of knowledge, modesty, goodness, and trustworthiness. There was no loud talking in them, and unveiled women would not sit there. When he ﷺ spoke, his companions would lower their heads as if birds were perched on their heads. And it is said in his praise that he would walk leaning forward slightly and with gentleness, as if he were walking downhill. In another Hadith, it is mentioned that when he walked, he would gather all his limbs together, with such composure that there was neither haste nor sluggishness in it. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud رضي الله عنه says that the best way is the way of the Beloved Prophet ﷺ.
