صحیح بخاری (حدیث 200)

Translation

Sayyiduna Anas رضي الله تعالى عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked for a vessel of water. A wide-mouthed bowl with a small amount of water was brought to him ﷺ. He ﷺ placed his fingers into it. Anas says, “I began looking at the water, and it was gushing out from between his blessed fingers.” Sayyiduna Anas رضي الله تعالى عنه further states that those who performed wudu (ablution) from that one bowl of water were between seventy and eighty individuals.

Narration

The Beloved Prophet ﷺ had fingers that were slightly long, strong, and beautiful. Describing the blessed fingers of the Master of the Universe ﷺ, Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib رضي الله عنه said, كان رسول اللّٰه صلى اللّٰه علیه وسلم شَثْنُ الكفَّین والقدمین سائل الأطراف "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had soft hands and feet and long fingers." Sayyiduna Anas رضي الله عنه narrated, "I saw the Beloved Prophet ﷺ when it was time for the Asr prayer. The Companions looked for water for ablution but could not find any. A little water was presented before the Beloved Prophet ﷺ, so he dipped his blessed hand in it and said to the people, 'Now perform ablution.' Sayyiduna Anas رضي الله عنه said, 'I saw water gushing out from the Beloved Prophet's ﷺ fingers, and all the Companions performed ablution from it.' Imam Tabrani narrated a similar incident from Sayyiduna ibn Abi Laila Ansari رضي الله عنه, saying, فرایت الماء ینبع من بین اصابع رسول اللّٰه صلى اللّٰه علیه وسلم حتى روى القوم وسقوا ركابھم "I saw water spring forth from between the fingers of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until the entire army was quenched and they even watered their mounts." Sayyiduna Abbas ibn Abdul Muttalib رضي الله عنه, the Beloved Prophet's ﷺ uncle, said, یا رسول اللّٰه دعانى الى الدخول فى دینك امارة لنبوتك رایتك فى المھد تناغى القمر وتشیر الیه باصبعك فحیث اشرت الیه مال. قال: انى كنت احدثه ویحدثنى ویلھینى عن البكاء واسمع وجبته حین یسجد تحت العرش "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! The signs of your prophethood invited me to enter your religion. I saw you in the cradle talking to the moon and pointing at it with your finger, and wherever you pointed, the moon would incline. The Beloved Prophet ﷺ said, 'I used to talk to the moon, and the moon used to talk to me, and it would distract me from crying, and I would hear its glorification when it prostrated under the Throne.'
