صحیح بخاری (حدیث 5892)It is narrated from Hazrat Wa’il ibn Hujr that he reported from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: When the Beloved Prophet ﷺ sat, he spread out his left foot and placed his left hand on his left thigh. He extended his right elbow on his right thigh, folded two fingers, formed a circle (with them), and then raised his blessed index finger. I saw him ﷺ moving it and pointing with it.
The noble scholars رحمۃ ﷲ علیھم have narrated that when the Noble Prophet ﷺ graced gatherings, according to some accounts, his blessed thighs would touch his pure abdomen. However, other scholars have stated that sometimes the Noble Prophet ﷺ would also sit with his knees bent. Hazrat Abu Umamah al-Bahili narrated: "كان رسول اللّٰه صلى اللّٰه علیه وسلم یجلس القرفصاء." This means the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would sit in a way that his thighs would touch his abdomen. Sheikh Abdul Haq Muhaddith Dehlawi, explaining the meaning of "qarfasaa," writes: "یه نیند تكیه زده بردو زانو وچسپاند وانھارا بشكم وردرآید كفھاى ھر دو دست دربغل دست راست دربغل چب ودست چب دربغل راست." This describes a sitting posture where the weight is on both knees, the thighs touch the abdomen, and both hands are placed in the armpits, with the right hand in the left armpit and vice versa. The radiance, freshness, flexibility, brilliance, and majesty of the Noble Prophet's ﷺ blessed body can be understood from the fact that regardless of his posture, he always appeared dignified and perfect.
