مشکاۃ المصابیح (حدیث 1498)It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas رضي الله تعالى عنه who said: The Noble Prophet ﷺ would not raise his hands very high in any supplication except during Istisqa. In that supplication, he ﷺ would raise his hands so high that the whiteness of his underarms would become visible.
Once, when Sayyiduna Abu Musa presented water for ablution to the Beloved Prophet ﷺ, the Beloved Prophet ﷺ raised his blessed hands and offered a du’a for him. Abu Musa recounts, ورایت بیاض ابطیه "And I saw the whiteness of his armpits." Sayyiduna Anas رضي الله عنه narrates that sometimes the Beloved Prophet ﷺ would raise his hands so high in du’a that his blessed armpits would become visible. Regarding the fragrance of the Beloved Prophet's ﷺ armpits, a man from the tribe of Banu Hareesh recounts a childhood incident. He says that, “I, with my father was present in the Beloved Prophet's ﷺ court when Hazrat Ma'az bin Malik was being stoned to death for a crime he had committed. Fear overwhelmed me, it was possible that I would faint but I did not faint. The reason for this, as he narrates, is that فضمنى الیه رسول اللّٰه صلى اللّٰه علیه وسلم فسال على من عرق ابطه مثل ریح المسك. "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took me in his arms (to prevent me from falling) and I felt the sweat from his armpits dripping on me, which was like the fragrance of musk." The Beloved Prophet's ﷺ blessed armpits were hairless. Imam Qurtubi and Imam Asnawi, quoting Sheikh Tabari, wrote, انه لا شعر علیه "There was no hair on them." Imam Jalaluddin Suyuti also confirmed this, stating, وابطه ابیض غیر متغیر اللون ولا شعر علیه "His ﷺ blessed armpits were extremely white, their color never changed, and there was no hair on them." Allah Almighty created the Beloved Prophet ﷺ as unparalleled. Therefore, his ﷺ blessed armpits were also distinct from ordinary armpits in every way. This is why there was no excessive hair on his armpits and, unlike the norm, his armpits emitted a pleasant fragrance. Moreover, due to constant contact with the sides and hands, armpits typically become dark, but the Beloved Prophet's ﷺ blessed armpits were white (bright).
