ریاض الصالحین (حدیث901)Sayyidatuna Aisha Siddiqa رضي الله عنها said: When someone would complain of an illness to the Noble Prophet ﷺ or suffer from a wound or boil, he ﷺ would gesture with his blessed finger in a specific way and say (one of the narrators, Sayyiduna Sufyan bin Uyaynah رضي الله عنه, demonstrated by placing his index finger on the ground and then lifting it): “In the Name of Allah, with the soil of our land, mixed with the saliva of some of us, our patient is cured by the command of our Lord.” Explanation of the Hadith: The renowned commentator and eminent hadith scholar, Hakim al-Ummah Mufti Ahmad Yar Khan رحمه الله, explains: The Noble Prophet ﷺ, when performing ruqyah for a patient, would place his blessed finger on the site of the illness. He would then apply a bit of his blessed saliva to the finger, coat it with soil, and apply that mixture to the affected area—saying that, by the grace of Allah, our saliva and the soil of Madinah are a source of healing.
The saliva of the Last Prophet ﷺ was a cure for wounds and illnesses. When Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq رضي الله عنه was bitten by a snake in the cave of Thawr, the poison was removed by the Holy Prophet's ﷺ saliva, and the wound healed. For Sayyiduna Ali's رضي الله عنه eye inflammation, this saliva became a cure for the eye. During the Battle of Badr, a spear pierced and injured the eye of Sayyiduna Rifa'a bin Rafi' رضي الله عنه. He received such healing from the Last Prophet's ﷺ saliva that not only did the pain go away, but his eyesight was also restored. An arrow struck Sayyiduna Abu Qatada's رضي الله عنه face, and the Holy Prophet ﷺ applied his saliva to the wound. Immediately, the bleeding stopped, and he never received a wound from a sword or arrow again in his life. Besides healing, many other miraculous blessings manifested from the Last Prophet's ﷺ saliva. For instance, in Sayyiduna Anas's رضي الله عنه house, there was a well. The Holy Prophet ﷺ put his saliva in it, and the water became so sweet that there was no sweeter well in Madinah.
