مشکاۃ المصابیح (حدیث 4444)It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas رضي الله عنه who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had a small container from which he ﷺ would apply fragrance.
To reject a gift of fragrance is to show ingratitude for Allah Almighty's great blessing. It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Whoever is offered fragrance as a gift' – 'A'rab' is a famous fragrance in which many fragrances are mixed, but here it refers to the container in which this fragrance is kept. It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Uthman Mahdi رضي الله عنه that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'When fragrance is given to any of you, he should not reject it, for fragrance has come from Paradise.' Many things in this world have come from Paradise, one of which is fragrance. One should not reject it because its burden is light and fragrance is good. It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'The fragrance for men is that whose scent is apparent and whose color is hidden,' and 'the fragrance for women is that whose color is apparent and whose scent is hidden.' Rose, musk, amber, and camphor, etc., these fragrances are better for men because they have scent but no color. It should be noted that a woman should not go out using a fragrant substance.
