The Habibullah’s ﷺ blessed sword

The Habibullah’s ﷺ blessed sword

Daily Life of the Beloved Prophet ﷺ

Hadith

Translation

Sayyiduna Anas رضي الله تعالٰى عنه narrates that the hilt of the Noble Prophet’s ﷺ sword was made of silver.

Narration

Sayyiduna Hud narrated from his grandfather that when the Holy Prophet ﷺ entered Makkah on the day of its conquest, there was gold and silver on his sword. Sayyiduna Talib, one of the narrators of this hadith, asked his teacher where the silver was, and he replied that the hilt of the sword was made of silver. This hadith indicates that it is permissible to adorn a sword with a small amount of silver. Based on this hadith, some scholars have stated that it is permissible to adorn a horse's saddle and bridle with silver. However, other scholars have disagreed, stating that a sword is one thing and a saddle is another, and that adorning a saddle with silver is considered adorning an animal.
