شمائل ترمذی (حدیث 70)Sayyiduna Mughira bin Shu‘bah رضي الله عنه reported that Sayyiduna Dihyah رضي الله عنه gifted a pair of socks to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he ﷺ wore them. And Isra’il narrated from Sayyiduna Amir رضي الله عنه through Sayyiduna Jabir رضي الله عنه that a thobe (jubba) was also gifted to the Noble Prophet ﷺ. He ﷺ wore it until it became old and torn. And it had not been clarified to the Beloved Prophet ﷺ whether the animal (from which it was made) had been properly slaughtered or not.
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنه narrated that once the Beloved Prophet ﷺ went out to relieve himself and upon returning, performed ablution. After performing ablution, he ﷺ put on one of his socks. At that time, a bird came and picked up the other sock and flew high. Then, it turned the sock upside down, and a black snake came out of it. In another narration, Abu Umamah رضي الله عنه said that the Beloved Prophet ﷺ had his socks brought to him. He put on one of them, and a crow came and picked up the other sock and flew away. Then, it turned the sock upside down, and a snake came out of it. Then the Beloved Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever believes in Allah and the Day of Judgment should not put on his socks until he has shaken them both.
